Reconstruction and upgrade filtration system Mercator sailing boat in partnership with Atmus.
Our long-time partner Atmus has maintained a strong relationship with the Maritime Institute Mercator in Ostend, Belgium for many years. This collaboration includes participation in open school day activities, student training sessions and equipping the engine training room with filtration technology.
When the school was asked to restore the engine of the Mercator sailing boat, built in 1932 as a training vessel for the Belgian merchant fleet, Atmus was invited to look at the filtration system.
"Although filtration technology has advanced significantly since then, engine filtration was still in its early stages when the boat was originally constructed. In partnership with Filter-Technics in Zwijndrecht, Belgium, we carefully reconstructed and upgraded the filters, preserving the historical value of the originals. The goal is to have the engine fully operational for the major sailing event “Ostend for Anchor,” taking place from May 28 to May 31, 2026. We are so excited and looking forward to this remarkable event."
