Compressed air costs money. The pressure drop in compressed air systems is created by all kinds of systems and machines, but also by the friction in the pipes and by the pressure drop across the filters!
The latter can have a considerable effect on the economic outcome. For example, if you pay €0.08/kWh of electricity and you have a throughput of 1100 m³/h through a filter. Reducing the pressure drop by 200 mbar can therefore save €1514 per year!
A good compressed air filter with a low pressure drop is therefore crucial and almost immediately refunded.
