Liquid/solids are entering tangentially to create a rotation in the separator acceptance chamber. Driven by the inlet pressure, liquid with particles is accelerated through tangential slots/holes towards the centre.
By the rotation of the liquid, a vortex is formed in the centre of the separator, in the separation barrel. The centrifugal force moves heavy particles to the perimeter of the barrel and the separation of heavy solids takes place. Separated particles are pushed downwards by the flow and accumulated in the bottom solids collection chamber and are then periodically evacuated. A spin arrestor halts the rotating movement.
The deflector plate, located on the top of the particle collection chamber, changes the direction of the flow and solids free liquid, around the vortex, exits through the outlet pipe
