Spiral (wounded) membranes are used in relatively low particulate matter applications. A variety of feed spacers of different thicknesses and geometries are used to increase the solids tolerance of spiral membranes.
Such membranes are used, among other things, in the separation of food and dairy products or 'electrocoat paint recovery'. but also in the treatment of 'brackish water', the softening of water and the removal of organic matter. The sanitary coils are widely used in the food and pharmaceutical industry for purifying, concentrating and purifying valuable ingredients and meeting quality standards without compromising on yield. In addition, spiral wound elements offer the highest packing density and the most economical solution of all configurations.
